Hey Mate Welcomes Sophia Power Walters as Intake and Practice Coordinator

Hey Mate is pleased to announce the appointment of Sophia Power Walters as its new Intake and Practice Coordinator, supporting the organisation’s continued growth as a specialist mental health and wellbeing service for the creative industries.

Sophia brings experience across counselling, music, advocacy, and community care. As a counsellor, musician, and women’s health advocate, she brings a unique understanding of the creative sector alongside a strong commitment to supporting people through compassionate, accessible, and person-centred care.

In her new role, Sophia will support Hey Mate’s intake and practice operations, helping to ensure individuals, teams, and organisations are connected with the right support in a timely and thoughtful way. Her work will play a key role in strengthening the client experience and supporting Hey Mate’s growing national network of creative industry partners.

Sophia’s appointment reflects Hey Mate’s commitment to building a team that understands both mental health and the realities of creative work. As demand continues to grow for sector-specific counselling, workplace wellbeing, training, and psychosocial safety support, the Intake and Practice Coordinator role is central to ensuring care remains responsive, relational, and grounded in the needs of creative communities.

Sophia Power Walters said:

“I’m a counsellor, musician, and women’s health advocate with a passion for supporting others and creating meaningful change. I’m excited to be part of Hey Mate, where my values strongly align with the mission and impact of the work. I’m driven by compassion, connection, and a commitment to empowering others.”

Hey Mate Founder and Managing Director, Aimee Davies, said Sophia’s appointment marks an important step in the organisation’s continued growth.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Sophia to the Hey Mate team. Her background across counselling, music, and advocacy makes her a wonderful fit for our work supporting creatives, arts workers, and organisations across Australia. Intake is often the first point of connection for someone seeking support, and Sophia brings the warmth, care, and sector understanding that this role needs.”

Sophia’s appointment comes as Hey Mate continues to expand its work nationally, delivering creative-industry-informed counselling, Employee Assistance Programs, training, workshops, and wellbeing initiatives across the arts, screen, music, festivals, live performance, and broader creative sectors.
