SYMPOSIUM: Psychosocial Safety and Wellbeing in the GLAM Sector

Hey Mate at the Psychosocial Safety & Wellbeing Symposium

The Symposium: Psychosocial Safety and Wellbeing in the Glam Sector is bringing together professionals, researchers, and advocates to explore how workplaces in the Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums (GLAM) sector can foster safer and more supportive environments. The event will address key themes around psychosocial safety, mental health, workplace culture, and the importance of prioritising wellbeing in creative and cultural industries.

We’re pleased to share that Aimee Davies, from Hey Mate, will be contributing to this important conversation. Aimee will bring insights from our work supporting mental health and wellbeing across creative communities, adding to the collective dialogue on how the GLAM sector can lead the way in embedding safety and care into everyday practice.

What to Expect

  • Opening Keynote from Becky Jefcoate of the Fitzwilliam Museum (University of Cambridge), setting the stage for global perspectives on care in cultural institutions.

  • Panel discussions including:
Setting the Scene – exploring the nature of psychosocial risks in GLAM workplaces, with voices like Caroline Briggs Martin (Yalukit Marnang), Eliza Murley (The Dax Centre), Michaela Hart (Dept. of Health & Human Services, State of Victoria), and Nick Henderson (NFSA & Australian Queer Archives).
Support Services & Strategies – how organisations are doing wellbeing work, what supports are in place, challenges, and what more is needed.

  • Closing Keynote by Veronica Pardo (Veronica Pardo & Associates), reflecting on what it will take moving forward to embed safety, care, and wellbeing in GLAM workplace culture.

Join Us (If You Are There!)

We’d love to meet you. If you’re attending, come say hi — tell us what wellbeing in the glam sector looks like for you. Together, we can spark change that lifts up every person working in glamour who deserves safety, respect, and care.
