Program and Community Coordinator

About Hey Mate:

Hey Mate is the home of mental health and well-being for the arts, culture and creative industries in Australia and NZ. We deliver this support through counseling and therapeutic services, mental health prevention, education and workshop programs, events and more.

About the role:

The Program and Community Coordinator role is a casual on-site role base in Brisbane for approx 15 - 20 hours per week, hours will increase inline with Hey Mates growth. The Program and Community Coordinator will be responsible for developing and implementing community programs, workshops, coordinating team and events, and ensuring the smooth operation of programs / events. The Program and Community Coordinator will also collaborate with internal ( Director and team members) and external stakeholders to ensure project and event success.

Qualifications / Skills

  • Experience in community engagement, program coordination, or related fields

  • A strong passion for a happier and healthy arts and culture industry

  • A keen eye for detail whilst keeping the big picture in mind

  • Strong communication, organisational, and project management skills

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and GSuite

  • Knowledge and experience with social media platforms

  • Flexible availability including weekends and evenings as required (occasionally required)

  • Experience with mental health or wellness programs is highly desirable

  • Experience in the Arts, Culture or Creative Industry is essential.

Expression of Interest: Creative Industry Counsellors, Psychologists and Intake Staff

Part Time / Casual / Contract

HQ Based in Brisbane and Remote Australia Wide

Hey Mate is a social enterprise counseling and therapeutic support service. For nearly four years we have been providing easy & accessible mental health support creative industry workers and those who care about them.

We are currently looking to expand our team of telehealth practitioners and intake officers. As a workplace, Hey Mate will provide flexible working hours, and a positive and supportive team environment with supervision and development opportunities.

What you’ll be doing:

— Intake and assessment of new clients

— Regular telehealth counselling / therapeutic support or coaching sessions with repeat clients

— Escalation of high risk and high profile issues through the correct channels

What we’re looking for:

— A relevant counselling, psychology or psycho- therapy qualification

— Broad knowledge base of relevant therapies used in counselling and other supportive modalities

— Telehealth experience highly valued, but training can be provided

- A strong understanding of the creative industries, select sectors, on a sector level, industry level and individual level.

-Professional registration with appropriate peak body eg. ACA, PACFA ETC

Please note: It is a requirement for every team member to have creative industry experience.
